The
1999
6/80 & MO Club Rally
September 24-26
Tanunda, South Australia
The 1999 rally was held in South Australia to match up with the bay to Birdwood classic car rally. The cars rallied at the Tanunda Caravan Park in the heart of the beautiful wine producing area of the Barossa Valley. There were representatives of New South Wales, Canberra, Victoria, Western Australia, and of course a fine collection of vehicles locally from South Australia.
Here is a selection of photographs of the event.

A fine line up of Morris Oxfords (MO, Series II & an Isis),& Wolseleys on the parade ground at the Tanunda Caravan park, before the commencement of the Saturdays activities.

The Morris noses all in a line!

A brief stop to view a local landmark. With so many MO's, 6/80's etc, this is a scene not likely to be repeated too soon!

Here is Steve McNicol's suffering from, dare we say?, a problematic fuel pump! Fortunately this was the only problem of the weekend-(we won't mention the week prior!)

The Saturday drive in convoy ended up at Mannum, a lovely tourist spot & previously a haven for steam paddle wheelers, on the might Murray river.

Here is a late model MO in all it's glory.

The Bay to Birdwood Classic was held on the Sunday morning. A few of the club cars were entered, but most of us congregated by the roadside to view the passing parade. The 'Bay' is the water side of Adelaide, Birdwood is a close by country town which is now home to the National Motor Museum.

After the Classic we toured the Barossa with a trip to Seppeltsfield, one of the oldest of the vineyard areas. This grand road leads to the Seppelts mausaleum, the resting place of the early grape growing pioneers. If you will excuse the two moderns at the rear (the last one is mine!) the view of the fields is typical of the area.

And then there were six! As some of the members drifted off home, the last port of call on the Sunday was a lookout overlooking the Barossa. Sorry-I didn't take a shot of the view (my excuse is that it was into the sun)-only the cars!
