The
MORRIS OXFORD
(SERIES MO)
The MO Series Morris Oxford was introduced in 1948 as part of the new post war range of cars. The Morris Minor was the small car, the Oxford was the medium sized family sedan, and there were larger versions in the form of a Morris 4/50, Morris 6, and the top of the range was the Wolseley 6/80. The passenger compartment of the medium and large car bodies was essentially the same size.
These cars were of the all new rounded shape that was the fashion following the war. The Minor and the Oxford were powered by new side valve engines, while the larger cars had overhead cam engines. Excellent features included rack and pinion steering, and torsion bar front suspension.
Our Oxford (a 1953 model) has been in the family since it was purchased second hand in 1956 and exported from England to Australia in 1959.
