The Pits Take Shape
Some more views of the drainage work being done on the grounds of the Sydney Live Steam Locomotive Society.

Volume 2

27 January.
The concrete base has been poured and the formwork is taking shape for the pit under the rail bridge.

27 January.
The area over the lower end of the inner and outer ground-level track is marked out for the bottom pit excavation.

30 January.
The rail bridge pit forming is complete and ready for concrete.

30 January.
A smaller excavator is used to dig the large trench to connect the two pits.

6 February.
The concrete has just been poured into the rail bridge pit. The workmen are compacting the concrete with a vibrator.

6 February.
The car park end of the grounds is fast becoming a lunar landscape with topsoil cleared and large holes everywhere!

13 February.
The formwork on the rail bridge pit is being removed. Note the rectangular culvert in the lower centre, this will have mating culverts to connect it with the other pit.
