Vladimir

Vladimir Ivashov was born in Moscow on August 28th 1939, two years before the Nazis invaded Russia.

Twenty years later, a young and unknown actor, he was chosen to play the lead in Ballad of a Solder and his astonishing performance led to a successful career in film -- mostly as an actor but also, on at least one occasion, as a director.

Outside of his native country, however, he is known mostly for his premier performance -- which gained him world-wide recognition.

Vladimir died relatively young (in his mid-Fifties) on March 22nd 1995.
