Do you like doing jigsaw puzzles? Try this one. If the scene looks familar that's not too surprising—it's the Nepean Belle's Boat Ramp at Tench Park, Penrith. Just click on the picture to start. (You will be transferred to Jigzone.com where you will be able solve it.) If you leave your computer's sound turned on you will hear the pieces click together as you play through. When you reach Jigzone you'll find that the photograph has been broken into a 48-piece puzzle. That is only the DEFAULT setting. At the top of the dialogue box at left of the Jigzone page (see the arrow in the image below) you will find an option that says Change Cut.
By clicking on this link you will have the opportunity of selecting any of 35 settings, ranging from six to 247 pieces—and those pieces will be cut in a variety of shapes, ranging from standard jigsaw shapes to birds, lizards and even Euros. Enjoy!
The first jigsaw is of the Nepean Belle.
Of course, every vessel needs a place to berth. If there was nowhere for the Nepean Belle to pick up and set down passengers she'd be condemned, like the Flying Dutchman to a ghostly voyage until the end of time.
Most of us will have seen the boat ramp from time to time but slightly less well known is Glenbrook Lagoon. When this photograph was taken (from the south side) the water level was very low due to the long drought but the reeds still looked good.
If you haven't yet visited Glenbrook Lagoon perhaps you should detour next time you're passing along the Highway and stop for a picnic. There's a secluded, shady walking track around it with an occasional bench where you can sit and relax and maybe have a coffee. Access to the Lagoon area is via Glenbrook Road (almost opposite Olivet Street).
Of course, not all the scenery is on the ground. These Mares' Tails sailed across the Blue Mountains early one August morning.
If you enjoyed doing these jigsaw puzzles you can find many more at Jigzone. There is no charge to solve the puzzles, and there is no charge for converting your own photographs to jigsaw puzzles which you may then solve. Jigzone.com also provides a free facility to email them to your friends if you wish. |
