Computers and the Internet have become such an important part of our daily lives that we will be publishing a series of information sheets about fairly elementary computing for U3A members. These will not be aimed at high-tech computer wizards, but are intended for those people who may need answers about basic everyday usage.
PLEASE NOTE: I do not run Vista on either of my computers and have absolutely no knowledge of its workings. Most of the hints given here will be about general computing and the Internet, but if a hint is specifically intended for either XP or Vista I've labelled the link in red. Be aware that some of the XP tips will probably work with Vista, but the reverse is unlikely. If anybody out there is familiar with Vista and wants to write some hints for this page, please contact the Webmaster. (There's a contact link in the next paragraph.)
If you have a question that you would like answered, please email me and I will do my best to help, or to point you toward a resource where you can find what you need. For many questions it would be useful if you give details of your operating system (XP, Vista, Windows 97, Mac, etc) and the name of any specific software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Paint Shop Pro, whatever) that you're asking about. If you want to do that, CLICK HERE.
This page will expand rapidly over the next few months. Please keep visiting.
