U3A State Conference, 2010 – An Introduction

Did you know that we—U3A Nepean-Blue Mountains-Chifley Chapter-- will be hosting the U3A State Conference in 2010?

The information on this page has been cobbled together from the email newsletters, commencing with January 2008 and will bring you information about the conference in the manner it was made available to members.

I anticipate that more information will be made available as it develops, so watch this segment to be kept up-to-date.

Email Newsletter, January 2008:
The following members agreed to form a sub-committee to plan our U3A NSW State Conference 2010: Reg Grace (Conference Coordinator), Tony Bayes, Brenda Emerson, Shirley Gould, Carol Gregory, Marie Stewart and Hedi Roggeveen.

The first meeting of the Sub-committee for organising the 2010 State Conference at Penrith will meet at 2.00pm on Tuesday 18th March at the Penrith School of Arts.

In the year 2009, the U3A NSW State Conference will be held at the Ex Services Club, Anson St, Orange on the 24th and 25th March, 2009. And in March 2010, we will be holding the U3A NSW State Conference in Penrith. We will be looking for ideas on how to entertain and inform our guests. We could have workshops and demonstrations on Tai Chi and Yoga, Bush Walking, tours of the Blue Mountains, Penrith Lakes, White Water and Regatta Centre, lectures on the Blue Mountains and anything else. Send us your ideas, please.

Email Newsletter, May 2008:
We are still looking for a suitable venue in the Nepean District or Blue Mountains to hold the conference as our initial venue was a lot more expensive than we anticipated. We are also seeking ideas on how to entertain and enlighten our guests, with workshops and vibrant guest speakers etc.

U3A Hawkesbury Inc has been invited to join our U3A in hosting the 2010 NSW U3A Conference and to share our website until they start a website of their own.

The Penrith RSL Club has been booked as the venue for the Conference.

As you can see, planning is still in the early stages. More information will be added as it is received.
