On a day in July of 2000 while I was surfing the net looking for friends from my Hong
Kong days back in the 70's I came by a web page which had been set up by Ian Maw (The Vicar) for Ex Students of Saint George School Kowloon Tong which had been closed in
1996 before the handover of Hong Kong back to China. I added my name to the handful that appeared there at that time. Little did I know what was to follow in the months and years
ahead. After posting notices in the "Where are you now?" of online newspapers in the UK, USA and Asia, looking for people, I was contacted by my old friend Bill
Clayton. I had last seen Bill in Hong Kong in 1974. We e-mailed each other regularly and Bill re-introduced me to his Brother Steve who lives in Malaysia. We went on
to find Teresa and Alison Woods in the UK, Frank Beecham who lives near Toronto in Canada and Kevin O'Rorke near Washington in the USA. By this time the Saint Georges site
was increasing it's membership at a fast rate thanks to the newly created Friend's Reunited UK site which saw others come along, Hilary Bellord, John Mills, Judy Fenton, Tina
Fell, Amanda Suart, Jayne Moratt, Keith Darker and many more who are listed on the St George site and who visit here from time to time.
Kowloontsai is dedicated to my
friends from St Georges School Hong Kong . A special dedication though is to Tricia, Hilary, Adam, Frank, Tina, Amanda ,John, ,Steve, Mick, Barry, Charles, Maureen , Brian
and Moyreen who made the reunion in Hong Kong, August 2003 a memory that will live with me forever. Although Bill was absent from the reunion he must also be mentioned
here as he is an important part of the family of friends on this site. We missed him but I'm sure we will all meet again some sunny day !
Paul November 2003.
