DAMLEN KENNELS

Aust. Champion RINGINGLOW Sailor King (Imp UK)
20/2/81 - 4/9/95

He came to us as a 5 month old pup from Maureen Thomas of Lancashire (Maureen now lives in Wales) and spent his first 3 months in quarantine where we visited him regularly and Sailor developed a passion for Good O's. Finally the day came when we could take him home to make friends with the rest of the family, both human and canine. He was a direct hit with every one except with our Blue (Aust. Ch. Rhossili True Blue). I think he mistook Sailor for Domino his brother whom he intensely disliked and transferred these affections to the new member of the family. From there on in it was a continual battle to keep the two of them in separate places lest they kill each other. Eventually this problem was solved when Blue spent the remainder of his older years with our son Terry.

In 1984 we moved from Wentworthville to Londonderry where Sailor became the undisputed lord of the harem (in his view anyway) and proceeded to do a lot of good work for us. He had some good wins in the show ring, one of them was Intermediate in Group under Robert Zammitt. He was always happy to strutt his stuff.

Today there are quite a few of his descendants left for us to carry on with. At Damlen we have his daughter Gwynnie and son Tommy. Grandchildren and great grandchildren Magic, Jilly, Kalua and Yonti

Betty, Owen and Greg of Wanmirri have his granddaughters Ch. Damlen Hot Lips (Carrie) and Damlen Hot Strawberry (Straws). Pam Manchester has Damlen Strawberry Tart (Kate) - these three girls are daughters of Ch. Damlen Hot Legs (Sailor's daughter).

Dorothy Hartcher used Sailor which produced Ch. Llandwyn Lollypop, Ch. Llandwyn Leading Lady and Ch. Llandwyn Lucky Charm. Dorothy has gone on in her winning ways with his grandchildren Ch. Finlai Anne Laurie, Ch. Llandwyn Aces High and Ch. Llandwyn my Cupa Tea. Of course we do not presume that Sailor alone was responsible for this. He had a lot help from Shandy and Erin.

A newcomer to the ring is Dan Hall and his daughter Kim and I was fortunate enough to be able to let him have a linebred Sailor King grandson - Damlen Benjamin. Ben has done some really good winning for Dan and is now a Champion. We hope that Dan will have a lot more good wins with him.

Our thanks go to all of the above friends who have made it possible for Sailor to leave an indelible impression in the dog world. We will always remember him as a devoted friend and sometimes a stroppy old bugger. We only have to look in the yard to see him everywhere around us.

Goodbye old friend!
From all your family at Damlen.
