Timber Gallery

As timber is a natural product you can expect to find in Australian timbers variations in colour, grain and texture within species - variations that are unique to a particular species or even to a single tree within that species.

When browsing through our Gallery you must also keep in mind that colour reproduction on individual monitors also creates difficulties with realistic representations of the true colours of timber. In creating this Gallery we have used the best technical equipment available to present Australian timbers in their natural colours but nothing betters actual samples of the timbers and, as yet, we have not mastered the art of sending the fragrance of many of our timbers through cyberspace. For the technically minded this site is best viewed by having the colour setting in Display Properties set to either High Color (16 bit) or True Color (32 bit). For the technically illiterate adjusting the contrast and brightness controls for the monitor can bring the colour images closer to the written colour descriptions. However, within those limitations, we present the "Best of the Best" in the Gallery.
