Furniture Grades

Australian timbers in either soft or hardwoods have been used extensively for over two hundred years for the creation of fine quality furniture. The richness of colours, grain and feature allows craftsmen, cabinet makers and joiners to create magnificent furniture with almost unlimited possibilities in timbers of timeless beauty.

The strength and high density of many of our hardwoods makes them the finest choice for the production of high quality, long lasting Park and Street ware and Garden and Outdoor furniture and with minimal maintenance the natural beauty of these timbers can be maintained for a life time

We have not shown in our Timber Gallery any of the "feature" or "distressed" grades of Australian timbers as this opens a cornucopia of possibilities for craftsmen and manufacturers looking for the unusual. Our national hardwoods exhibit all the natural and beautiful features of growth that Nature creates and stunning masterpieces have been produced working with these features. We would be delighted to discuss the treasury of feature grade that Australian timbers offer.

In Clear and Selected grades widths are generally limited to a range from 75mm to 250mm (3" to 10"). Lengths of Clear material will vary with the species and thicknesses in kiln dried timber are limited to 25,38 & 50mm (1",1-1/2" and 2").

In lower and "feature" grades much more latitude is possible with sections up to 50mm and 75mm (2"-3") thick and slabs sawn bark to bark in widths to 2.0m (80"). Very long length boards and slabs are available in these grades.
