Perisher Blue has been extremely generous, they have fully supported this fundraiser by providing us with a suitable venue (you can't build an igloo at Westmead) They have also assisted with logistical and technical support such as during the testing stages of the igloo building

Perisher Blue has played a major role in this events publicity and co-ordination with other events that are operating at the resort

The Largest Ski Area:

1250 hectares of snow covered terrain across 4 resorts and 7 mountain peaks all linked by 50 lifts. This is by far the largest resort in the Southern Hemisphere giving skiers and boarders plenty of room to move

A choice of Mountain Bases:

Begin your days skiing or boarding from any of our mountain bases

Perisher Valley offers access by car or the Skitube. Parking is free for day use only

Bullocks Flat offers free day and night parking and access into the resort is by Skitube. Skitube accesses Perisher and Blue Cow Mountain

Smiggins may be accessed by car, day parking is free and a free shuttle service runs between Perisher and Smiggins between 7.30am and 6.00pm

Guthega offers free day and night parking, and access is by car

The Fastest Way to the Top:

Skitube is a convenient and innovative train ride from Bullocks Flat up the mountain and into the National Park, onto Perisher and Blue Cow Mountain. The distance is 8.5km, of which 6.3km is underground making it the longest underground train tunnel in the Southern Hemisphere and travelling as deep as 550m under ground. It takes 10 minutes from Bullocks Flat to Perisher then another 7 minutes to Blue Cow. Travel between Perisher and Blue Cow is free with any valid lift pass. Skitube runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and at 20 minute intervals during peak times

Accessibility:

It is an easy 5½ to 6 hours drive from Sydney or 7 hours from Melbourne with more than half the distance on dual carriageway roads

Cooma airport is approximately 1 hours drive time from Perisher Blue, and 1 hours flying time from Sydney. Impulse Airlines fly into Sydney on a daily basis while Qantas and Ansett fly into Canberra Airport (2½ hours drive away). Shuttle services, taxi and car hire is ailable from both airports on arrangement

The Ideal Elevation:

Perisher provides Australia’s highest chairlift at 2034m with all lifts and runs well above the recognised natural snowline, a fact no other Australian resort can boast. The largest grooming fleet in Australia complimented by snowmaking keeps the snow cover in Perisher, Smiggins, Blue Cow and Guthega in tiptop condition

Highest Lifting Capacity:

Perisher Blue boasts the capacity to lift an amazing 47,648 skiers per hour (the most in Australia), with 6 quad chairs, 4 double chairs, 2 triple chairs, 23 T bars, 4 J bars, a magic carpet and 11 other lifts plus the Skitube

Varied Terrain For All Levels:

With 1250 hectares of skiable terrain 22% is suited to new skiers and boarders, 60% is for intermediate or cruising skiers and 18% for advanced. Perisher Blue also boasts two terrain parks open for skiers and snowboarders, and a permanently sculpted halfpipe allows it to open earlier and for longer

Technological Advances:

An advanced automated ticketing system provides a faster ticketing service while our computerised lift status boards record lifts on hold or closures as soon as conditions change

The Way To Show You Around:

Free guided tours show skiers and boarders from *level 4 or higher, the best ways around the mountains, with tours leaving daily from Perisher Valley at 10.00am, (weather and snow conditions prevailing)

(*Level 4 denotes skier confident with riding lifts and beginning to parallel turn and snowboarders confident riding lifts and beginning to link turns)

The Ski School Experience:

The largest Ski School in Australia provides an extensive range for all ski and snowboarding enthusiasts, from the 2 hour group lesson for all levels, through to the ultimate recreational program - Ski Esprit

Great Ways to Keep the Kids Occupied:

The Crèche is open all season with qualified personnel to care for children aged from 6 months at 1 hour, half day, full day or weekly rates

Junior Ski Kids – for kids aged 3-5yrs, offers half day, daily and weekly ski programs

Ski Kids – for kids aged 6-14yrs, offers daily and weekly ski or snowboarding programs with plenty of variety to keep them enthused and entertained

Kids will enjoy their experience even more at Perisher Blue with the introduction of the new Ski Carpet

Plenty of Places to Eat on the Mountain:

5 on mountain kiosks and 2 licensed restaurants are located on the mountain. All 4 mountain bases offer Hotels or Bars with a wide variety of food, drinks and toilet facilities

The Most Scenic Places:

While all views across Perisher Blue are picturesque, the views from Blue Cow Mountain and Guthega capture panoramas of the main range. On a fine clear day eight of Australia’s highest peaks can be seen including Mt Kosciuszko, Australia’s highest peak (2228m)

Ski Hire:

5 convenient locations on and off the mountain provide skiers and snowboarders of any age all the clothing and equipment they may need. Lockers, luggage minding and daily on-snow ski minding is also available at most centres

All the Comforts:

The escape from city living doesn’t mean missing out on any conveniences. Bars, gourmet restaurants, cafes, a Police Station, medical centre and an ambulance service, Post Office and Churches are all close at hand

For shopping there’s the supermarket, ski and snowboard shops, clothing outlets, souvenirs, photo shops, plus more

Eftpos is available at most outlets and a Commonwealth Bank ATM is located in the Perisher Centre

White Nights Under Lights:

Ski and snowboard from 6.30pm – 10.00pm under flood lights on Front Valley for just $18 Adults and $12 Children every Tuesday and Saturday night (conditions permitting). Floodlighting has been extended for the 1999 season to cover the halfpipe for Saturday nights

The Station Resort:

Comfortable chalet style accommodation, located 10 minutes from Jindabyne, features spacious rooms with ensuites, central heating, tea & coffee facilities, fridges, and colour television. The Station Resort offers a large bistro, chargrill and a pizza station. Entertainment includes a nightclub, tavern and live entertainment. Phone 1300 369 909 for reservations

The Perisher Valley Hotel:

Voted Australia’s Best Ski Holiday by Channel 9’s Getaway program. The Perisher Valley Hotel is located at the base of the lifts with ski in, ski out convenience and most rooms boast excellent views. All rooms feature in house movie facilities, Pay TV channels, mini-bars, and room controlled heating. Internal access is available to all Perisher Centre facilities including the shopping arcade, Jax Night Club, ski hire and the ski and snowboard school reservations and crèche facilities
