CHILDREN AND SLEEP PROBLEMS

from The Blue Mountains Gazette

“Is a good nights sleep a rarity in your household?” asks Jennifer Harris of Buteyko Breathe Easy. “Do you spend nights watching your child struggle to breathe?

Does your child have asthma, allergies, sleep apnoea, dental malocclusion or gum disease, poor energy, lack of concentration, snoring, eczema, chronic cough, headaches, bed wetting, overweight and, in general, low immune system?” These conditions, and many more, are the consequences of poor breathing habits. Medical professor Konstantin Buteyko grouped all these conditions together under the name of the Hyperventilation Syndrome.

The Hyperventilation Syndrome is exactly what I work to correct with the Buteyko Breathing and Health Programme.

Watch for the following unhealthy breathing habits in your child.

  1. Does he/she breathe through the mouth at any time- night and/or day?
  2. Can you hear the child breathe? If so when?
  3. When your child breathes in, does their tummy go in and their chest rise?
  4. When your child breathes out, do they pop their tummy out?

If you answered yes to any of these questions then five or six sessions of the Buteyko Breathing and Health Programme may bring peacefully healthy nights of rest for the whole family.

All sessions are private and involve both parent and child together.”
