APPETITE & BREATHING

from The Blue Mountains Gazette

“Oxygen is the most important energy facilitator for the human body.” Says Jennifer Harris of Buteyko Breathe Easy. “If we are not breathing correctly we are depriving ourselves the appropriate levels of oxygen for good health. We deny ourselves a healthy level of oxygen by breathing more than five litres of air at rest per minute. Anything in excess of this causes a drop in carbon dioxide which plays a vital role in the delivery of oxygen to our cells. Our bodies will then seek out ways of increasing our energy supply by increasing our food intake” explained Jennifer. “The constant search for more energy via food often leads to overeating. Overeating stimulates over breathing. A vicious cycle is created which lays the scene for obesity and ill health.” Jennifer continued. “The most efficient way to break this cycle is to learn how to breathe appropriately.”
