TRIBUTE TO PROFESSOR BUTEYKO

from The Blue Mountains Gazette

In Moscow on May 2nd at 4.05 p.m. medical professor Konstantin Buteyko breathed two long breaths and slipped into Eternity. He was 80 years old.

Fifty-one years ago Professor Buteyko was diagnosed with malignant hypertension. It was then that he recalled all his extensive studies on breathing, in particular his knowledge of the Bohr Effect. Knowing that over-breathing reeked havoc throughout the human physiology Buteyko evolved his wonderful breathing retraining techniques to counter hyperventilation and save his own life. A fifty year extension of life is testimony to the Buteyko method. Buteyko went on to dedicate the rest of his life to his work on breathing and to present this work to the world.

He was an impressively tall, kindly and humble man. He did NOT achieve financial gain from his work, he simply was passionate about health & healing.

He died in a borrowed apartment in Moscow with his wife, Ludmilla, at his side.

We are so privileged that the Buteyko Method is available in Australia. The Buteyko Method has revolutionized the health of many thousands of Australians and millions of people world wide.

For what you have done for me, my son, family and clients Thank You seems inadequate, Professor.

Rest in Peace.
