GRANDMA WAS RIGHT!
from The Blue Mountains Gazette
When the stresses of a hectic time seem to overwhelm you to a point of breathlessness taking the age -old advice to sit down and “catch your breath” is definitely worthwhile. Five or ten minutes out of your tense schedule will “buy” you hours of clearer thinking, better energy and a happier, more relaxed disposition.
So here’s a gift from Buteyko Breathe Easy – sit comfortably with your back straight, knees apart, feet flat on the floor, head erect, shoulders relaxed back and down and your hands upturned on your thighs. Now look straight ahead, then with your eyes only lift your gaze a little. Looking up eases your breathing. If you lightly press the “pinkie” and ring finger into the centre of the palms of the hands your breathing will shift to where it should be- in the diaphragm. For the next five or so minutes focus on breathing as gently and comfortably as you can through your nose only. Wishing you all better health through better breathing.
