Orthodontia and Breathing

from The Blue Mountains Gazette

Yesterday my son, Max, had his braces removed. It has been two years of discomfort for him & $4,000.00 for us. Max flashes a winning smile now and, thanks to Buteyko Breathing, he is able to ensure that his mouth will stay well aligned. You see, Max no longer is a chronic mouth breather ( day or night). He doesn’t suffer from asthma anymore either.

Orthodontists are very concerned about their patients who are chronic mouth breathers. To support their skilful work the dentists are referring their clients to practitioners, such as myself, who can correct the breathing techniques.

Mouth breathing contributes to forward head posture ( can lead to neck muscle pain, stiffness, fatigue and joint damage), headache, elongated face, malocclusion, anterior open bite, TMJ dysfunction, reduced dental arch space ( increased need for tooth extraction), gum disease, dental decay, dry mouth and throat, increased allergen and airborne infection entry to lungs, chronic tonsil swelling, enlarged adenoids, polyps, noisy breathing, noisy eating, bad breath, snoring, apnoea, GREATER POTENTIAL FOR RELAPSE OF ORTHODONTIC CORRECTION and increased mucous production.

Class and private appointments are available now. For more information phone Jennifer Harris B.I.B.H. 0414 833 857 or take a look at http://www.pnc.com.au/~breatheasy which is Jennifer’s website.
