Buteyko Breakthrough for sufferers of Asthma
from The Blue Mountains Gazette, Wednesday, October 17, 2001
After only three sessions of a ten week Buteyko Breathing Course the seven children participating in the course are all free of their dilator "puffers". Their parents are thrilled with the better sleep patterns, healthy energy levels, the obvious lack of any breathing difficulties, freedom from the usual worry associated with asthma and the sheer pleasure of watching their children playing sport without impediment. Three of the children involved were referred by dentists who are concerned about the ill effects of mouth breathing on dental health. All seven children are happily breathing through their noses.
The adult course currently running at Leura boasts a similar success story. We have nine people working on their breathing. Their health challenges range from asthma, sleep apnoea, sinusitis, panic attacks to improved skills for singing. Again we have all of the asthmatics dilator free and a class full of people well on their road to achieving their health goals.
Enrolments for the next Leura Village Fitness course commencing October 25th are open now. If parents wish to enrol children in the Hazelbrook course I will open an extra class time in order to have the children ready for a healthy Christmas.
With problems of C.F.C propellants in some of the well known brands of preventer medications now would be a good time to learn to breathe correctly and take a proactive stance in your own well being. I must stress here that if you are concerned about your preventative medication see your doctor immediately. Prevention is vital.
In the Buteyko Institute Method we insist on prevention as prescribed by your doctor and dilation as needed. Our clients find they need very little if any dilation and eventually preventers become a thing of the past – in consultation with their doctors.
Buteyko Breathing classes are now available for adults at Leura Village Fitness Centre and for children at Hazelbrook Public School. The courses are for ten weeks with a one hour lesson per week.
You learn to breathe correctly when speaking, eating, exercising and performing all daily activities.
