Buteyko Breathing Courses in the Blue Mountains
from The Blue Mountains Gazette, Wednesday, August 15, 2001
Jennifer Harris is holding 10 week courses at Leura Village Fitness Centre for both children and adults in the Buteyko breathing method.
The Buteyko method uses breath control, breathing exercises and education to help people understand their condition, control symptoms and prevent illness.
"Breathing is one of the most important things people can change to improve the way their body functions; and to have good health you must have good breathing," Jennifer says.
"The Buteyko method is a system of breathing analysis and correction that helps you achieve good health through optimum breathing. It corrects the common condition of hyperventilation or over-breathing, obvious (acute) or hidden (chronic). Fear, anxiety, poor breath control and lack of understanding can make conditions like asthma worse than they need to be for many sufferers."
Fully qualified as a Buteyko breathing teacher, Jennifer's enthusiasm for the Buteyko method comes from personal experience with her asthmatic son and a genuine commitment to helping people achieve optimum health.
Adults, Thursdays commencing August 16, 4-5 pm; children, Tuesdays commencing August 14, 4-5 pm. For further information and enrolment details contact Jennifer on 0414 833-857 or leave contact details with the Village Fitness Centre at Leura.
