INSULIN, ADRENALINE & ASTHMA

from The Hazelbrook PS Newsletter

What you eat certainly has a huge impact on how your mind and body function. If your diet is full of refined carbohydrates such as white sugar and flour your blood sugar levels will “yo-yo’ up and down. With these shifts in blood sugar levels you will experience a wide variety of symptoms both psychological and physical.

Symptoms such as dizziness, anger, anxiety, depression, chilliness, headaches are quite common. You will also come to crave the very foods that do you harm.

Eating a diet based on fresh fruits, vegetables, lean protein and moderate amounts of grain will ensure well balanced blood sugar levels and result in good health. If you notice regular mood swings in yourself or family members, check the diet and the time between meals. Eating small snacks of fruit and nuts will help regulate blood sugar levels immensely. Avoid processed food and drinks as much as possible.

If an asthmatic person eats foods full of sugar and refined flour the rapid insulin rise and “dump” that soon follows causes an adrenaline rush as the body reacts with its “fight or flight” mechanism in response to the chemical stress it is under. Adrenaline results in overbreathing and overbreathing results in asthma attacks if you are an asthmatic.
