town where you will find Blackheath's many fabulous (and some
famous) restaurants, antiques and gift shops and two great pubs.

Your holiday in
Blackheath can be as civilised or extreme as you like. Activities
close by include:
- Visit the
lovely town of Leura, famous for its quality arts and crafts,
antiques and gift shops and wonderful cafés
- Come up in
early November for the Blackheath Rhododendron Festival
(the rhododendrons are in full bloom usually around October/early
November)
- There are
dozens of great bushwalks, ranging from easy half hour
walks to full day walks, most of which take you into the
enchanting rainforests and past spectacular views
- Visit Mt Wilson,
known for its amazing English-style gardens, many of which
are open to the public, and the nearby Mt Tomah Botanic
Gardens
- Either drive
or take a coach to Jenolan Caves; about 40 minutes from
the motel
- Hire a mountain
bike for the day
- Learn to abseil
or, if you're feeling really adventurous, have a go at
canyoning
- Go horse riding
in the beautiful Megalong Valley
- Take a short
drive to Katoomba and visit Echo Point, the home of the
famous 3 Sisters, ride the scenic railway, the steepest
railway in the world, and try the new Sceniscender, a cable
car which descends into the Jamieson Valley
- View movies
on The Edge, the big screen cinema at Katoomba
- Try your hand
at trout fishing on a guided fishing tour
- Go off-road
on a 4WD tour
- Tour the sights
of Katoomba on a Harley Davidson
- Step back
in time and have a ride on the Zig
Zag Railway, at Lithgow,
about 20 minutes west of Blackheath
